The Infamous Google Ranking System. Nobody knows how it actually works but some have a vague idea. The Dreaded Google Dance

If you have been doing SEO for a while then you might be quite familiar with the Google dance. If you are starting out then prepare your self because Google will take your site for a spin. This will happen with most sites during their existence. So whenever you see your site disappearing from the rankings out of the blue that it means it’s dancing.

Just in case to be sure type into google site:www.yoursite.com and if it finds it then everything is good. If it doesn’t it means it was deindexed and you have done something horribly but horribly wrong. In these cases the only thing you can do is asking for a manual review. (BTW these cases are extremely rare.)

What is the Google Dance?

It’s a time period while Google takes your site out of the top positions to see where would it fit best. This usually takes from a few days up to a few weeks. And in extreme cases months, but this really happens if you are spamming your site like and idiot. Why it’s called a dance? Because one day you can be at #2 the next day at #54 and the third day not even in the top100 listings. So in other words the positions are fluctuating multiple times a day.

Can the dance be avoided?

I don’t think so. The dance usually happens as soon as the Google bots start finding your backlinks. People get scared at this point. But this is actually a good sign, which means that your work is starting to pay off now continue on and you will get the rankings what you deserve. The only way you can avoid the dance is building links really really slowly but, your results will be slow as well, and also there’s no guarantee either.

It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day … i have this song sticking into my mind for a few days now … and I’m feeling good. Today I will be touching on the subject of keyword research. Many people are doing it wrong, and also many SEO companies are ripping people of as well. So if you don’t want to get departed from your well earned cash then pay attention to this post.

So there are a number of tools out there which help you to pick the right keyword.I’ve used to use them but they don’t really give too much extra information what you can already get from the Google Keyword Tool. Maybe they offer such info as searcher’s willingness to buy, or how much competition is there for that particular keyword.

As I mentioned in one of my earlier posts I’m old school, I don’t really require anything fancy if the plane stuff will do. So Google’s Keyword Tool does the job just as good as any other software because they all are getting the information from Google, The difference is, it might have a prettier interface that’s it.

So how to do a proper keyword research?

Well first of all you find your niche, if it’s a huge niche for example weight loss you need to dig deeper and find a subniche, let’s say six pack abs. When you are at the subniche level gather up your keywords add them to the Keyword Tool (make sure that you are signed in because only then will Google show you the average CPC costs). And the next important thing to click is “Exact Match“. I always use exact match, even so the data might not be accurate. There’s a huge difference between broad and exact match, broad match shows couple of hundred thousand searches and the exact only a few thousand.

What’s the difference between “Exact Match” and “Broad Match”?

The best way to explain it is by an example. Let’s say your keyword is “cat” as a broad match shows a few million searches. But broad match contains all the searches in which the word cat is used, so in those few millions contain: “cat food”, “cat videos”, “funny cat videos” and so on and so forth. now the exact match only shows the search number when the word “cat” is used, not any additional word.

This is where most SEO companies are ripping off people. They always show the broad match that a keyword is getting like a few thousand and they predict that they can rank the keyword in a few months. I’ve seen this countless times, and that kw isn’t even getting a 100 searches even. So when ever they are throwing out big numbers in front of you call them on their BS. And see them sweat.

So Google throws out a bunch of keywords and many are unrelated ones. So if your keywords is “six pack abs” then, add that keyword in the “Include Terms” list. By doing this you can eliminate many unrelated kws. Also you can add keywords to the exclude list, so you can filter more out with that. Keyword research is simple, you don’t need to over complicate things. Just follow these steps and you can unearth some great kw’s.

SEO became mainstream a good number of years ago, which means it is getting harder and harder to get authority backlinks, some people would say it’s impossible. I do agree with this to a certain point.
